Monthly Maintenance
Once a month, and if at any time the robot appears to navigate abnormally, inspect the laser slot between the top and bottom sections of the robot for debris. Remove as necessary. Also, inspect the laser screen for excessive dust/debris. Remove and wipe screen with a cloth dampened with mild soapy water and again with a non-soapy wet cloth.
Quarterly Maintenance
Once every three months, remove the front and rear covers of the robot. Replace the robot's batteries. Clean the air filters and the charge contacts on the robot. Then replace the covers. Wheels should be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Lubricate casters with a Teflon-based lubricant such as Tri-flow®, a few drops at wheel axles (non-clean-room robots only.) Also, clean the laser slot and laser screen as in Monthly Maintenance. The plastic dome of a Surveillance PatrolBot should be cleaned with mild soap and water and a soft cloth or paper towel. DO NOT USE GLASS CLEANER ON ACRYLIC DOMES. Ammonia-based cleaners will mar the dome finish.
Severe Environment Maintenance
In a severe environment, maintenance requirements increase. Wheels may need to be cleaned regularly to provide good contact with the floor. Under extreme conditions, this might be once a day. Also increase the frequency of air-filter and charge-contact cleaning in severe environments. For PatrolBots with Surveillance, the plastic dome covering the camera will need to be cleaned whenever it impairs vision. Again, timing will vary with the environment. Wipe dome with a cloth dampened with mild soapy water and again with a non-soapy wet cloth. DO NOT USE GLASS CLEANER ON ACRYLIC DOMES. Ammonia-based cleaners will mar the dome finish.
Preventative Maintenance
To avoid problems, swap wheel motor assembly and docking station electronics and springs every 2 years. As wheel motors age, they will become increasingly loud, indicating preventative replacement is due. Docking station springs may fail to retract fully. Docking electronics are subject to wear.
